Part 1 starts Friday night when I start moving everything from the dining room into the living room. Now remember, in the living room we still have the coffee table; recliner; piano; entertainment center; couch; chair; & corner table.
The plan was to get everything from the dining room into half the living room, still be able to use the living room, navigate through the living room, and still access the refrigerator. Plans are nice.
I moved the baker's rack of stamping stuff, Lovely Wife's paper file, barstools, and corner desk into the living room and was working on the frig. Eldest Son started helping me with the frig and then when his pizza was done in the oven he said he would be right back. I waited...... so I started moving the rolltop desk and realized that I can't fit everything into the living room, some must go onto the patio. I get the rolltop desk halfway through the patio door and I give out. It's almost midnight and I'm doing this myself (Lovely Wife is taking care of the kitchen, Youngest Son is feeling bad, and Eldest Son...where is he?) I go into his room and he's in bed. I lose it.
I shout that he said he would help with the frig and I have a desk stuck in the patio doors. He gets up, we lift the frig over the carpet hump and into the living room and get the desk onto the patio. We manage to get the dollcase into the living room and Eldest Son goes back to bed (he has an early morning) I then move Lovely Wife's other stamping supplies onto the patio along with the fainting chair. I was all ready for the morning.
Mike showed up at 0800 and we started discussing how to start, where to start, unloading stuff and getting ready. We laid the first tile around 0930 after deciding to start in the hallway and useing a staggered brick pattern. After 6 hours we had finished the entry and gotten into the kitchen hallway. The part that slowed us down was that the hallway was a little under 4 tiles wide, which meant that we didn't have enough room for both of us to work and we also had to make at least one cut for every row.
Once we moved on into the kitchen and dining room, things went a little faster. When we finished at 1230 Sunday morning (thirty minutes after midnight, we had gotten about 1/3 of the kitchen and 1/4 of the dining room done. We still had the laundry room, in front of the patio and the rest of the kitchen/dining room to do. But those details will be for Part 2
