Big Bunny, Western Hills & Biltmore Motels
Here are a few more vintage photos from the Denver area. First up, the Big Bunny Motel @ 6218 West Colfax Avenue. What struck me as odd was the spacing in the word B ig. The second photo shows why the spacing between the B & the i looks odd. The name of the motel was originally BUGS BUNNY!!!! I couldn't get any info from the owners but obviously a lawsuit, or threat thereof, prompted the painting of the neon and the lettering on the sign. I've been unable to get a pic of the sign at night. According to Agility Nut the motel opened in 1952. Click on the pics for a larger view.
Next up, still on Colfax is the Western Hills Motel located at 5035 West Colfax Ave. I had taken the daytime photo some time back. I neglected to use a tripod for the nighttime photo, so it is not as clear as I would prefer.
The Biltmore Motel (8900 E Colfax Ave, Aurora) was featured previously, but I decided to post it once again for a side by side comparison of day-night photos.
