Stupid Canadian Non-gun Laws.

posted Thursday, 1 December 2005
UPDATED: Eldest Son just called. Seems he had a slight run-in with the law up in Surrey, Canada. Now before you start freaking out, everything is ok & he's not in trouble. Seems like the gun laws in Canada extend to everything that even LOOKS like a gun. It also seems that Eldest was seen in the passenger seat of a car holding a prop for a movie he & some classmates were going to shoot. The prop was the equivalent to a paintball gun, just using air to fire a pellet. The RCMP ended up surrounding the car, cuffing everyone, and confiscating the 'weapon' to destroy it.

Now the problem is that the gun was borrowed and Eldest and the driver are responsible for replacing the gun at about $120 (or $60 each). The donation button to the left is to help Eldest (who is in Canada on a student loan/student visa and legally cannot work in Canada) pay for his half of the gun. Strike a blow against stupid liberal Canada gun laws and toss a few cents his way. Here is the whole sordid tale.

If you think that more gun control laws are the answer, look at the response of the RCMP:

apparently, a concerned citizen of surrey, british columbia saw me holding said pistol in my hand and decided that the royal canadian mounted police needed to be informed. so they call the cops and the cops pull us over...en masse. i mean there were at least six cars blocking two lanes of traffic just to pull us over and take our toy gun away. they blockaded the whole road behind us and stood outside their cars with guns drawn (i guess it's ok for people to see your gun if you're a mountie).

And how do the Canadians view Us down here in Oklahoma?

while talking to the officer in charge about this, he also asks where i'm from. i tell him i'm from the states and he remarks, "well, it's a good thing you didn't get caught with this down there because they probly just would have shot you." WHAT? these are the same cops that three months ago were involved in a high speed chase with two teenagers that had stolen a car. after the kids wreck the car into a pole, one of the cops just runs up to the car and empties his clip into it. killed one of the kids outright and sent the other to the icu. and the american police will just shoot you? i tell him that we wouldn't have gotten stopped at home because we don't have a problem with airsoft guns.

So make a stand against stupid Canadian Gun Laws & please hit the tip button to help Eldest pay for the confiscated weapon.
