The canoe is beached (temporarily)

Well, it looks like my latest canoe trip will be the last for a little while. The 'magic schoolbus' (as my son calls the green van) decided to allow it's transmission to toally croak and that was the only vehicle big enough to carry the canoe.

I started shopping for a rack or something to put on my car but buying one new would actually cost around $300. I did some shopping on ebay and I might be able to get away for about $150. But I'm going to have to wait on that. Until then, I may have to borrow the neighbor's truck, or Joel's when he buys it.
